Haircut #2....

I took Joel to get his second haircut today. He was really good and sat still on my lap. I still don't understand why they give him a sucker that only gets covered in hair, but I guess it distracts him. I think she might have cut too much off, but we'll see what it looks like after his bath. He's napping now, so I should be cleaning. Oh well! More later...

Joel vs. the Kleenex box: Joel-1, Kleenex box-0. He was quite proud of himself, and started stuffing them back in when he saw I had found him!

Let me explain....Joel was watching us sitting on the couch with our feet up on the coffee table. Before we knew it, he got himself in this position, and just stayed there watching his Elmo DVD. He does it all the time now. He's quite the acrobat! :0)

Mommy loves OshKosh overalls!

More Rain...and a Little Cabin Fever....

More rain today! Poor Joel (and Bailey, too) can't figure out why we can't go outside when it is pouring down rain. Earlier today I found Joel on the bed in the spare bedroom, cuddling with Bailey. (Amazingly enough she was letting him cuddle up against her!) By the time I got the camera, he was sitting up and acting goofy! I really like these pictures....I think they capture perfectly one ornery little boy and one VERY patient old dog! More later...

My favorite....see, they really CAN be sweet with one another!

"Bay? Bay? Bayyyyyy..........?"

Can't you just see the wheels turning in his head? :0)

Silly little boy!

Rainy Day Ramblings...

Today is a blah and dreary day. Joel and I have been finding creative ways to entertain ourselves this morning. He played for a long time in my clothes basket while I was doing laundry. He just loved climbing in and out of it and bringing his trucks in with him. Rob recently taught him how to say "D'oh!" like the Homer Simpson character on TV. His face is so funny when he does it, and he cracks himself up! He is asleep right now, wrapped in his big soft blanket sucking his thumb (which is unusual). Yesterday we had a good day. Joel was a holy terror in the morning, tearing things up and making big messes everywhere. He also was tormenting Bailey quite a bit, which does NOT make him popular! After his nap I took him to Big Lots with me and then we walked over the the pet shop. He loves it there! He likes the dogs and the fish, but yesterday he was all about the turtles! He sat on my lap on the floor for a long time talking to the turtles and pointing at them. He was fascinated. I personally don't like turtles, but he was a big fan. The good news is that they also had a snake there and he wanted nothing to do with that! After the pet store we walked over and got an ice cream cone. This was the first time Joel has held his own cone and he did really well. He didn't eat nearly the whole thing. I think he was mostly impressed with the novelty of doing it himself! Last night we went to dinner with Daddy and then he fell asleep with Rob in the chair. That is my favorite time of night....when everyone is relaxing and everything is quiet. More later....

Captured on film! The elusive "D'oh!" face! :0)

Rainy day fun with Mommy's clothes basket. I love his smile! He was laughing and giggling like crazy. So cute!

The first ice cream cone of the season! Also, this is the first time Joel held the cone himself. He did pretty well and didn't drop it!

Tractor time!

A big Joel-y bear hug for PawPaw.

Happy Memory Alert!...

Two years ago today we brought little tiny Joel Aiden Jeffrey home from Dayton. He was soooo little....only 5 pounds...but he looked so big to us after seeing him in the hospital! Some days it seems like it was yesterday. It is hard to believe the thirty pound "big boy" I chase around all day is the same tiny little peanut that I used to lay awake at night watching on the monitor to be sure he was breathing. I tell him all the time, though, "You may be a big boy, but you will always be Mommy's baby!". He just looks at me and laughs. If he only knew..... WE LOVE YOU JOEL!!! Happy Coming-Home anniversary!!

Big Boy News...

Here I am....catching up again! Joel is doing great and keeps us on our toes. He has entered the "Terrible Twos"...but so far it hasn't been too bad! :0) He has discovered the joy of throwing random objects down the basement stairs and then shrugging his shoulders and saying "Oh-oh". We recently signed him up for preschool at our church. It is actually a "Mommy & Me" class one day a week for two hours for two year olds. It runs from September until May. We are looking forward to that! We toured the classrooms and Joel loved all the stuff to play with and look at. He was so cute checking everything out! Rob has also taught him to do the Homer Simpson "Doh!". It is HILARIOUS!! He laughs and laughs when he does it. Maybe I can get the face on film. More later......

So sweet! I just want to kiss his chubby little cheeks! :0)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Oops, I Forgot...

I forgot to mention Joel's newest "thing". Rob has been trying to get him to say "Love you" for the last few days. At first he seemed to just ignore him, but now, almost every time, Rob will say it and Joel will say "ZaZa" in he same sing-songy way. This morning when we went in to wake him up he was standing in his crib, looked at us and yelled "ZAZA!!". It warmed our hearts, to say the least! :0) He said it a couple of times tonight and followed it with kisses. I don't know if he knows what he is saying or not, but he has us fooled! More later...

Big Birthday Weekend...

Joel's birthday weekend went by fast! His party on Saturday was a "farming" theme. I had fun decorating! He wore cute overalls that had "Old MacDonald" on them that I ordered from Ebay. Good thing the party is over....they were already almost too short! He is growing so fast. He loved all the attention at the party and didn't go to bed until after 11:00. It actually snowed and sleeted a little bit during the party, so the tractor riding didn't happen. On Sunday we had a surprise 90th birthday party for my Grandma. Joel was busy, busy, busy and ran all over for about 5 hours while we were there with no nap. He fell asleep instantly in the car on the way home about 5:00 and slept until 7:30. When he woke up he just wandered around the house with this pathetic little wimper. We put him back to bed about 9:30. I thought for sure he would be awake early, but he slept through until 8:00 this morning. He woke up in a really good mood! We are so happy with him in our world! He is the light of our lives and we are so grateful that he is our son. He can be an ornery little guy, but I wouldn't trade it for anything....MOST of the time! More later....

Farming party decorations!

The birthday boy! Fresh out of the shower!

Doesn't this look just say "Back off my ice cream!"? :0)

A boy after my own heart....look at him shoving that cake in his face! "CAKE!!"

Happy Birthday, Joel!!

Blowing out the candles with Daddy. He was so funny....once the candle was out he kept saying "On? Turn on?".

Happy Birthday, Joel!

Happy Birthday, Joel! He's been a very busy boy this morning already! He woke up laughing and "singing" in his crib. He has spent the morning doing his favorite things....watching Elmo, playing with his cars, and eating butterscotch chips. Hey, it is his birthday after all! Love you, baby boy! Happy, happy birthday!!!!

Birthday Pictures...

These are two of the pictures from Joel's photo shoot this morning. Love them! It will be a while before the rest are available for viewing. Can't wait! We just tucked him in for his last night as a one-year-old. Happy Birthday to Joel at 1:10 tomorrow afternoon! :0)

Two Days Left of "1"...

I cannot believe that Joel is going to be two on Friday! He is growing so fast and changing so much it is amazing. He is funny, silly, smart, and has personality to spare! He also seems to have a temper, which we are working on. We love him SOOOOOOOO much! He is the best part of our lives, no doubt about that! :0) Also, today is the 2nd anniversary of the phone call letting us know that Courtney had chosen us to parent her baby. We were told we had a couple of weeks to get ready....little did we know it was only going to be two days! Sometimes it seems like a lifetime ago, and sometimes it feels like yesterday. We are so blessed.

LOVE this smile!

Playing with Mommy!

We tried Joel's party hat from last year....he left it on briefly and then tore it off! Poor Elmo!

Happy 15th Birthday Bailey! :0)

I took Bailey out the other day, and when I got back, Joel had dragged his tent from the living room into the kitchen and was trying to hide in it! Never a dull moment!

My family came from Wauseon to watch Joel ride his tractor....which he then refused to do! Ah, the joys of the 2-year-old temperment! :0)
